In a recent article for Okemo Magazine, writer and cyclist Marty Basch writes of a kinship between a recent mountain biking trip in Vermont and the writings of famous poet Robert Frost in "Taking the Road Less Traveled". "More than half of Vermont's roads are dirt," she points out, and they are full of wonderful places and people to discover.
"Life slows down on those narrow pathways by rundown shacks, homemade signs, splendid homesteads, tree farms, orchards, preserves, maples buckets, vegetable stands, camps, cabins, gentleman farms, covered bridges and manicured estates." Spending time along these roads, at the pace they were designed for, will uncover the wonderful places, people and history of Vermont.

Buttermilk Falls
Distance (one way): 1.6 miles
Rated: Easy
A short and easy ride to a beautiful three tiered waterfall with plenty of places to take a dip or a picture.
Willie Dunn's Grille & Okemo Valley Golf Club
Distance (one-way): 1.3 miles
Rated: EasyA brief and scenic ride to one of the best lunch psots in the Valley. Eat overlooking the 18th fairway on a beautiful patio or hit balls on the driving range. (Rental clubs are available.)
Red Bridge Swimming Hole
Distance (one-way): 5.3 miles
Rated: Moderate
A beautiful ride on back roads along rolling hills ends at a scenic horseshoe dam where you may take a dip and relax! This ride is predominately on packed gravel and dirt roads with the option of taking the more heavily trafficked Route 100 one or both ways.
Bike Rental Information
Okemo's fleet of performance hybrid bicycles are suitable for pavement and dirt road riding. Each has 24-speed wide range gearing for the right gear on any terrain. Our bikes are suitable for any rider's ability. Bikes are available for rent from The Spring House and each rental includes a helmet.
